News from the Beehive Toddler Group March 2011

The Beehive is thriving at the moment with approximately 28 children between 0-4 years, with their mums/grandparents attending each weeek. Many new mums have joined us during the year and as our numbers have increased over the year we have been looking for a new venue. The new Village Hall was the obvious choice so we started making enquirieis.

June - Again we joined in the National Big Toddle and held our own in Worden Park, Leyland where we toddled from the car park to the children's play area wearing pirate hats and eye patches, a sight to behold!! We finished with a picnic together and a medal presentation for all who took part and we raised over £600 for Barnados.

July - 5 of our children left us for primary school, so we had a special leaving party for them and they all received a book.

October - Tom joined us again for our Harvest Lunch which everybody enjoyed.

November - During this month we hald a book sale enabling some of our mums to buy Christmaas presents.

December - Once again we joined with Lilliput Nursery to present a Nativity play in church, which this year was entitled 'The Star who couldn'ty Twinkle'. It was a huge success and throoughly enjoyed by all.

We ended the year with our usual Christmas party in our new venue, the new Gillage Hall in Whittle which was a tremendous success despite the dreadful weather and even Father Christmas made it through the snow!!

We have a wonderful team of helpers without the Beehive wouldn't run smoothly. A good number of our mums also attend church regularly, so we praise God for all His blessings in 2010 and look forward to another successful year in our new venue.

If you want any more information about the group, please call Christine 01257 415669 or Sam 01772 322989 or just come along - we are all very friendly!

Monday 10.30-12 noon, Village Hall, Whittle le Woods (see the meetings page for more details)

Friday Club         WHAT???         WHERE???     WHY???

Friday Club is held at CLAYTON BROOK COMMUNITY CHURCH each Friday from 6.30pm to 7.45pm, during school term times. It's a fun night, and the club caters for all SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN. Due to a very high demand for places, it runs on a MEMBERSHIP basis.

Activities typically include snooker, table football, table tennis, and air hockey.

A room is set aside for the quieter pursuit of craft activities.

In another room we have fun with various board games and sometimes play Twister or hula hoops.

In the main hall we play badminton, giant volleyball, and have to burn up our energy with dodge ball and 'run around' games. One of our favourites is Port & Starboard!

Juice and biscuits are proved too, and of course, a bit of faith input too.

We often sing or have a short talk about God's love.

Sometimes we have special nights when we can bring our Mums and Dads along, and challlenge them at the games!

Usually there is a short waiting list for membership, so if you are interested in joining up for Friday fun and friendship don't delay, contact Stuart Cross at Clayton Brook or see any of the leaders at church.         HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!

Kids Have Questions ??????

Who is God? How did the world begin? Why is there so much trouble in the world? How can I go to Heaven some day?

The WONDERSEARCH CLUB is for boys and girls who want to know more about the Bible, about God and his son Jesus. At CLAYTON BROOK we now have six members of the WONDERSEARCH CLUB.

The 'Super six' are Jade, Brittany, Leah, Chloe, Jack and Luc.

First of all, the boys and girls have to register and then complete worksheets and activity sheets. They get posted off to be marked, and a few days later a reply comes through your letterbox, usually containg a surprise or two!!

At the end of 5 lessons, you will receive a special WONDER AWARD!

You will need to have your own copy of THE WONDER BOOK, and have your parents agreement to joining the Club.

The club and correspondence course is free and is run by a well respected Christian organisation called CEF (Child Evangelism and Fellowhip).

If you want to know more, please see Stuart Cross at Clayton Brook for more information.
